In the fall of 2019, RE Mountain Secondary accepted students into its halls for the first time. The project began construction in August of 2017 and was completed for the fall opening of 2019. The school was designed to seat 1500 students.
After a community consultation, the school retained the name RE Mountain, taking it from the previous school site, which is now Peter Ewart Middle School.
RE Mountain Secondary was named for Roy Mountain, a respected educator in Langley for 44 years after attending Milner School, Belmont Superior and Langley High School as a student.
